Historical Records
Genealogy Records from the Hamilton Library, University of Hawaii at Manoa
Housed in the Hawaiian Collection of the Hamilton Library at the University of Hawaii at Mano, these documents consist of research work for a sociological study, conducted during 1934 -1935, by an unknown scholar on intermarriage between Hawaiians and Chinese. The files include transcripts of interviews, genealogy data sheets, and summaries of family histories for various members of the following families: Tong, Aluli, Nawahi, Cash, Kimione, Kai, Akamu, Like, Freeman, Baker. Most of the interviews consist of the interviewee telling the story of the history of their family (parents, grandparents) and biographical information about themselves and their immediate families. Also included here are the analyses and conclusions about Chinese-Hawaiian intermarriages based on the data collected on the Tong family.

Gilliland, George Kai, Ernest Kai, Hannah Freeman. The interviewees spoke about their family history, their ancestors and their family life.
